In '24, Oregon State, Washington State, and Mountain West schedule 6 football games. Part-1

Oregon State, Washington State, and the Mountain West announced a 2024 football scheduling deal Friday that offers the two surviving Pac-12 schools six opponents apiece and allows them to function as a two-team league for at least a year.

Oregon State and Washington State will play three home and three road games against Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, San Diego State, Wyoming, Nevada, UNLV, San Jose State, Utah State, Fresno State, and New Mexico State, and all 12 Mountain West schools will be involved.

The arrangement requires Oregon State and Washington State to pay the Mountain West $14 million next year, according to Washington State athletic director Pat Chun.

Barnes said a full football schedule with five Power Five, six Mountain West, and one FCS team will be issued soon. The Mountain West will play seven games and not count Oregon State and Washington State in the rankings.

Washington State athletic director Pat Chun says the Cougars have 11 of their 12 games booked and aim to finalize the last in the coming weeks.

Mountain West Commissioner Gloria Nevarez said Oregon State and Washington State will have a rare chance to face highly competitive Mountain West football schools in 2024. The agreement expands the conference's footprint and nonconferences, she said.

Oregon State and Washington State are seeking to regroup following Pac-12 conference restructuring. New Power Five conferences will include 10 Pac-12 institutions in 2024.

As the sides discuss possibilities, there has been discussion of a Mountain West-two remaining schools combo, including scheduling arrangements in other sports.
