Bengals' awful trick-play INT vs. Jaguars puzzles NFL fans

NFL fans confused by Bengals' terrible trick-play INT vs. Jaguars first appeared on NBC Sports Chicago. Cincinnati Bengals should eliminate wide receiver throws from their repertoire.

After the Jacksonville Jaguars knotted the score on Monday Night Football, the Bengals attempted their second wide receiver throw, which went much worse than the first, a seven-yard loss.

Bengals quarterback Jake Browning threw to Tyler Boyd to his left on the first play of a third-quarter possession. Boyd looked back and passed to Joe Mixon on the other sideline after making the reception.

The only issue was that Jaguars linebacker Josh Allen was in the passing channel, making pickups easy.

That may be the worst 2023 play. The play-call and Boyd's choice confused NFL fans.

Jake Browning had gone 19 of 21 passing, and Cincinnati had failed on a similar trick play earlier in the game. A reverse throw from wideout Ja'Marr Chase to Browning lost seven yards in the first quarter.

In the end, the Jaguars were able to turn Boyd's interception into points, as quarterback Trevor Lawrence scored a touchdown on fourth-and-goal to put Jacksonville in the lead by a score of 28-21.
